About
I am a visual artist working mainly in the field of traditional painting with drawing, collage, fresco, encaustic & printmaking also playing an important role in my practice.
As a remote practitioner my interests lie in what is immediately near. Notions of the ‘geography of home’ – everyday absences, recollections and thresholds – crop up in much of my work. I am curious about the domain of glitches, improvisation and dissolution along with oblique explanations for the language of ‘vanitas.’
For some years now my research has focused on marginalia. Ideas for the work are re-imagined when snatches of the familiar collide with the idiosyncratic. This combination of the mundane, the marginal and the peculiar become tools I use to explore painting.
Most of all I am trying to understand the question ‘what can paint do?’
